NinjaOne’s Acquisition Of Dropsuite Making A Futuristic Pathway

Setting for a futuristic growth, NinjaOne takes the first steps towards expansion by acquiring Dropsuite for $252 million, aiming to enhance its MSP-focused endpoint management platform with robust backup and data protection features. This acquisition is forecasted to broaden the scope of protection beyond just endpoints to include SaaS applications, which are increasingly targeted by cyberattacks. This ensures that MSPs can effectively manage security threats, accidental data loss, and ransomware through a unified platform.

SaaS refers to cloud-based software solutions that businesses use for productivity, collaboration, security, and management. These applications hold essential business data and are widely used across various industries, making them prime targets for cyber threats like ransomware, phishing attacks, and accidental data loss. In this context, Dropsuite is widely famous for its cloud-based data backup and protection through SaaS applications. 

NinjaOne has acquired Dropsuite to enhance its cybersecurity offerings, integrating SaaS protection to provide MSPs with comprehensive security across endpoints, cloud applications, and networks—ensuring that their clients’ data remains safe and accessible. 

Competitive Advantage Through This Acquisition

Admittedly, seven out of ten employees use more than 4 devices and spend time in SaaS applications now than ever before. These statistics alone feed into the networks of malicious cyberthreats and put them in a position to be attacked.

To combat a variety of evolving online crimes, businesses must secure their data across different devices, applications, and endpoints. NinjaOne’s VP, Erzan Uygur, points out the increasing reliance on multiple devices and SaaS applications, highlighting the necessity for comprehensive backup solutions. 

Furthermore, this acquisition also strengthens NinjaOne’s position in the RMM market, following a remarkable 54% growth in 2024, which has allowed it to surpass N-able and only trail behind ConnectWise and Kaseya. Currently, NinjaOne is pursuing aggressive expansion, aligning with industry trends seen in the acquisitions of ConnectWise’s Axcient and SkyKick.

Analysts, including Shelly Kramer and Jay McBain, see this as a strategic move, making all-in-one solutions more attractive to MSPs by reducing complexity. NinjaOne gains 1.7 million additional endpoints, bolstering its AI-driven approach. The $252M valuation reflects the rising demand for integrated endpoint-to-SaaS protection.

What Does the Future Hold?

The acquisition is anticipated to be finalized in the first half of 2025, pending approvals from Dropsuite shareholders, Australian regulators, and other legal requirements.
